Maybe you are a "Bosklopper"? Or was your great-great-grandmother a "Bosklopper"? So welcome home! This web pages is a trial to join every Boskloppers and all their descendants in one big genealogical tree, and for that purpose we need your help!!
Different members of the Bosklopper family have inquired their genealgical tree. These web pages started in December 1999 by Edwin Huinzinga with the Bosklopper tree of Geert ten Hove, with contained over 400 persons. The last years the genealogical tree has growned over 2300 persons (Okt 2002). Many data came from the independent examined genealogical tree from Ebe Bosklopper, the files from the Mormons (FamilySearch), and from the GenLias project of the Rijksarchiefdienst(Dutch Government). Further sent more and more Boskloppers who discovered this genealogical three on the web their data. The Dutch telephone-guide contains about 100 Boskloppers, and many of them are not mentioned in the genealogical tree.
Are all Boskloppers family of each other? Yes , with one exception: Foske Mentes Bosklopper. Also a couple of namesakes are mentioned, the "single parts", Boskloppers who belong to it but the location is still unknown. There are different explanations for the name Bosklopper(Bos means forest,bundle, box; klopper means knocker) driver by the chase, a bird name, milkcan smith, thatch bundle knocker, but the most likely is eker (a person who peeled the bast of a oak), there is even a description of it Het Eekschillen by Lipke Post-Beuken from "Land van Gaas en Klip". In Groningen there is an expression "zugst erut as n Bosklopper" what means you looks even more dirty as a beer.
